Time for another update. Training has been going good, I have stayed faithful to my Benson training plan and have added the swim and bike workouts from my BeginnerTriathlete.com Sprint Tri training plan.
The status of my back is: better but not well. Continuing to stretch and ice. This is a very slow but steady process. As long as I am making progress, that's what counts.
The XTERRA Trail race is this weekend. I am looking forward to racing in the woods. The weather report for this weekend is finally like fall so it ought to be a great race.

Good Slow Race
September 13th I ran in my 1st race since Father's Day. I have run this race probably a minimum of 10 time and I can safely say that this is the slowest I have ever run it.
My time was 49:42 for 5 miles and my PR for this race is 32:12. As you can see there is quite a difference. I will admit that I am much older now and injured, but it is still hard to get over the difference in time.
I have been stretching and icing my back and it seems to help somewhat. At the least it has helped my tight hamstrings.
I am getting ready to go run so I will stop and post this entry. Bye for now.

Had A Good run Yesterday
Went out to Stone Mountain and had a good run. It was the first day that I was able to get a little faster run in. I did a steady state run, which means that after a mile warm up I ran at a steady faster pace for the remainder of the workout.
My back still bothers me, but I am still stretching and icing my back.
I am planning on running a 5 mile race this Saturday to see how my back holds up. I may do a run 3/walk 1 pattern just to give my back a rest during the race, we will see.

It's Time Again
It is time to update this blog again, so here goes.
As you can see, the right side of this page has my training log from Buckeyeoutdoors as well as Twitter updates. I have had Twitter and my event calendar over there for a while, I just added Buckeyeoutdoors today.
I decided that it will give me incentive to workout if people can see what I am doing.
I am still having back problems, so I have increased the amount of stretching I am doing and am icing my back on a regular basis now. I hadn't been doing that previously.
I ordered a kickboard and when I get it I am going to start swimming with a lot of kicking. I believe it will help my leg strength and flexibility.
I have slacked off on my cycling and I need to get back to that also.
There sure seems to be an awful lot of "I's" in this entry. Guess it is time to stop typing and publish it.
