OK, I know I am getting old, but I still want to run longer distances. So, in order to run longer and not suffer with sore legs and sore feet I need to change something. I went through the minimalist phase where I tried to do more natural, less cushioning and less heel to forefoot drop and I managed to injure myself. Therefore I have decided to try out the Hoka One One shoes. They have what is called oversized technology, which is basically 2.5X as much cushioning and wider sole, but lighter than other shoes their size.
I ordered a pair of Bondi B Hoka One One shoes from ZBSports in Hendersonville, NC and got a good deal on them. That is the biggest drawback with these shoes, they are what I call expensive. I should be receiving them on Friday of this week and will get to test drive them over the weekend.
The word Hoka One One is derived from the ancient Maori language and roughly translates to “now it is time to fly”. We will see about the flying, if I can just run and not get injured I will be happy.
This is a link to an article about Hoka on slowtwitch.com
I will continue to wear my Brooks shoes for my shorter runs, but I think the Hoka's will be my long distance shoes.
I will let you know how it goes with the new idea, new shoes.

Waiting
I had a good Magic Mile run last Tuesday, and I haven't run since. Wednesday I started getting congested and it went straight to my chest. I remember being told that if you have a head cold go ahead and run, but if it goes to your chest wait until you are recovered before you start running again. So, I am waiting to recover. Waiting, waiting & waiting. Maybe next week.

LostTrailRunner Episode 86? coming soon.
I am working on a new episode of the LostTrailRunner Podcast. It will be numbered episode 86. When I moved my podcast feed from MobileMe to Podbean I had started over with the numbering at 1. My latest episode would have been episode 18, but it is really the 86th podcast episode that I will have done in the LostTrailRunner series. Does that make any sense? Anyway I should have it completed sometime tomorrow and posted tomorrow night.
