Podcast: Ron'sUpdate 116/LostTrailRunner

This is episode 116 of my unscripted, unedited, unschedule update podcast.

I have completed 3 races and 1 virtual race since the 1st of the year. The 1st race was the Atlanta Track Club Resolution Run, the 2nd was the Atlanta Track Club Peachtree City 5K, and the 3rd was the Atlanta Track Club Hearts and Soles 5K.

I then registered for the “Run the Reagan” Half Marathon, but didn’t get to run it because of a family emergency.

I had previously registered for the JG13.1 Virtual Half Marathon and was running out of time to get it in before the cut off for getting the results submitted. So, I went out last Saturday morning and completed the virtual half.

The intro song is “Hardwired” and the outtro is “MeanToHurt “, both from Digital Juice at digitaljuice.com.

This podcast was recorded on an Apple iPod Nano Gen 7 using the Apple Earpod mic.

Please go on iTunes and give my podcast a review the more the better and I don’t have many.

You can leave comments at my website, losttrailrunner.com on the podcast pages.

Atlanta Spartan Race Details

Race Information

The Georgia International Horse Park was the home to the 1996 Olympic Equestrian events. Rolling hills and deep southern woods keep Spartans guessing what’s around the next corner. Georgia red clay makes slippery mud pits.

Race Details

Distance: 3 – 5 mile race
Obstacles: 20 – 23

Terrain: While this venue provides some fast moving single-track trails, the surrounding forest, hills, and swamps create unexpected challenges for all racers. If you are thinking the well maintained grass will help you out just know that the slick Georgia clay lays directly below that and any bit of rain or thawing snow will leave you sliding everywhere.

Avg. temperature: High 68, Low 35
Avg. rainfall: 4.81in
Elevation: 1102 ft
Avg. finish time: 2 hours
Fastest finish time: 40 minutes

Special Gear Needed: We highly recommend that all athletes carry a headlamp.

Start Times: Saturday – 8:00am, Sunday – 8:00am March 7-8, 2015

Waves of 250 athletes will be released every 15 minutes across66 groups (Elite, Morning, Late Morning, Afternoon, and Late Afternoon).

Racers: If you want to race for a prize, show up for the elite heat.

BUILD A TEAM: Strength comes in numbers.

Callout your friends, co-workers and loved ones to get off the couch and into the mud.
Whether they’re helping you over the wall or chasing you up the mountain, make sure they’re with you at the starting line.

Teams can be any size but must have at least 4 members to be included in the team rankings.

TEAM REGISTRATION

Getting all your friends registered and lined up together on race day can be tricky. Avoid any confusion by checking out 2015: Team Registration and Start Times.

FINISHERS RECEIVE

Badass Sprint Finishers Medal (personalize it with our partner site, iTab)
A trifecta medal wedge piece (run a Super and Beast to collect your remaining two pieces!)
Free beer
Sprint Finisher t-shirt (your other one should be pretty dirty)
Free Professional Photos (to frame and flaunt)
Bananas at the finish line

PARKING: Available, but limited. Carpooling encouraged.
