Just been listening to your latest podcast. I've been reading the Maffetone book too, also have Tom Ostler, both good reads. I've been feeling a bit jaded lately, so dug out the old heart rate monitor with the idea of slowing things down for a couple of months or so. I'm leaning towards Maffetone but have difficulty keeping within working heart rate zones. At 92-122 it's more flexible than your 108-118, mainly because all my runs have many hundreds of feet of ascent where my HR shoots up to 130+. I hate having to walk but frequently have to do. I just hope it has the desired effect of improving aerobic capacity so as to perform better in my next race. Time will tell. One thing I've found is that by running slower I feel less fatigued at the end of my runs - and could actually run further.
Happy running....
